Will You Go To Jail If You Defend Yourself?

If you are faced with an attacker and use a self defense product as protection will you go to jail?
This is a question I am frequently asked and its very important to know. Many people are fearful of owning self defense product like pepper spray or stun guns because they believe they could end up in legal trouble is used. Honestly, I don’t blame them one bit for worrying about this. But is it something that holds truths?
Good for us the guys over at robaughproducts.com have recently put up and article explaining this for us. They go into details on properly defending yourself without getting in trouble.
When it comes down to it you have the right to reasonably defend yourself. The keyword there is reasonably. To give you an example of this. If you are faced with a violent attacker and you’re forced to use pepper spray than you should flee when the attacker is down. That would be reasonable defense. However, if you use the pepper spray on that attacker and continue to dose them once they are on the ground gasping for air than that would be go over the line.
In a situation like this it can be hard to stop yourself from going over that line. If someone attacks you it can be natural for you to want revenge. You just need to keep in mind you are much better off doing what you can to get out of there and then let the law handle the rest.
Until Next Time,
Barry
